About Me

My photo
Perth/Fremantle, Western Australia, Australia
An independent, working woman, I live in a riverside suburb close to both Fremantle and Perth. Having lived in Perth for over thirty years it's obvious that I love the place, though there are still things that irritate and make me squirm with embarrassment. Occasionally they will make an appearance; but generally speaking this is a pretty good place to live.

Purple Haze - Freo comes alive this week

Walking through the waterside city this Saturday afternoon, it was true to say the place had seen an overnight  resurgence.  There was an expectant buzz and people were pouring into the local watering holes ready for the big night.

Jugglers were entertaining the crowd and those watching from the Sail and Anchor's balcony.

Fremantle's favourite sons, 'The Dockers" would soon to be demonstrating that they were no longer the, 'Johnny Come Latelies', they have been for the past 19 years.  They are just one game away from playing in the Grand Final of Australia's National Game.....Australian Rules Football; which bears a slight resemblance to its European namesake and a very slight one to its American cousin.  Though to be honest it really is its own game.  Fremantle is set to show the rest of Australia that this recently struggling football team has at long last come of age and is a force to be reckoned with.

.......and in the team's honour and as a mark of support the city had donned a sea of purple with balloons and bunting everywhere.....well perhaps not everywhere, but in a lot of places.

Post Script (added at 8.45)
THEY WON!!!!!
The Fremantle Dockers have just beaten the Sydney Swans  99 - 74
It was a great game.....bring on the Grand Final at the MCG
