About Me

My photo
Perth/Fremantle, Western Australia, Australia
An independent, working woman, I live in a riverside suburb close to both Fremantle and Perth. Having lived in Perth for over thirty years it's obvious that I love the place, though there are still things that irritate and make me squirm with embarrassment. Occasionally they will make an appearance; but generally speaking this is a pretty good place to live.

Freo sprang to life this Saturday

When I took these photos there was a great feeling of excitement, anticipation and everyone, well almost was willing The Fremantle Dockers to bring the CUP back to Freo.

Walking down South Terrace, about 90 minutes before the game.

This was just a small proportion of the crowd, there were just as many on the other side of the double screen.

Alas it was not to be.  The Hawks (Hawthorne) dug in early and put a few good goals on the board and though Freo fought hard, and even managed to get within three points for a brief period; it proved just too hard a task to claw their way over the top of the gold and brown who had tasted Grand Final defeat only last year.

Let's hope Freo live up to Pav's promise to make it back next year and like the Hawks, take the hard road to win CUP.

I'm sure anyone who watched the game would not only congratulate the winners, but also The Fremantle Dockers.

Footnote:   The crowd that descended on Fremantle was estimated to be around 40 000.
