About Me

My photo
Perth/Fremantle, Western Australia, Australia
An independent, working woman, I live in a riverside suburb close to both Fremantle and Perth. Having lived in Perth for over thirty years it's obvious that I love the place, though there are still things that irritate and make me squirm with embarrassment. Occasionally they will make an appearance; but generally speaking this is a pretty good place to live.

Russian Angst

"The Last Station", a movie depicting Tolstoy's last year, proved a welcome relief on a wet Wednesday. It was showing at the, 'Luna on SX', one of the four or five Art House movie theatres in the Perth/Fremantle area.

My friends and I, one of them of Russian descent, really enjoyed the movie, although I did note that not all the reviews were as favourable as ours.

We commented on the scenery and cinematography, as well as the engaging character portrayals of the main characters by Christopher Plummer and Helen Miriam, over a late lunch at, Benny's, a popular bar/cafe, on South Terrace in Fremantle.
