Just a short walk from my home is the popular water playground Point Walter, named by Captain Stirling for his older brother, Walter.
It was on a school excursion some years ago that I first fell in love with this area. Point Walter is a headland that juts out into the Swan River. The sandbar, a favourite haunt of fishermen, goes out for over a kilometre and provides a point of interest for the many visitors to the area.
For those without water vessels, there is always the rolling park that flanks the shore or Walter's River Cafe where diners can eat and watch their young off spring play in the shaded playground.
