About Me

My photo
Perth/Fremantle, Western Australia, Australia
An independent, working woman, I live in a riverside suburb close to both Fremantle and Perth. Having lived in Perth for over thirty years it's obvious that I love the place, though there are still things that irritate and make me squirm with embarrassment. Occasionally they will make an appearance; but generally speaking this is a pretty good place to live.

Point Walter

Just a short walk from my home is the popular water playground Point Walter, named by Captain Stirling for his older brother, Walter.

It was on a school excursion some years ago that I first fell in love with this area. Point Walter is a headland that juts out into the Swan River. The sandbar, a favourite haunt of fishermen, goes out for over a kilometre and provides a point of interest for the many visitors to the area.
For families looking for a relatively safe place for their children to swim, remembering danger always exists where there is water, it is ideal. The jetty, filled with happy jumpers - no diving allowed, is the perfect spot to burn off a bit of energy and then there is always the rubber dingy and small sailing boat. Motor boats and jet skis can also be seen bumping over the waves at different times during the day.

For those without water vessels, there is always the rolling park that flanks the shore or Walter's River Cafe where diners can eat and watch their young off spring play in the shaded playground. A kiosk, barbecues, boat ramp, showers etc., ensure that everyone is catered for.
