"Dogs are Man's best friend". Unfortunately the number of, 'Bad Dog' stories seem to have tarnished this oft quoted adage. Rarely do the benefits of owning dogs get considered newsworthy enough to make headlines, whereas even the slightest hint of a "Bad Dog' story can make it into the news.
Whilst in conversation with a Vet nurse recently she bemoaned the fact that whereas in years past, 'A Get to Know Dogs Day', was a feature at the local primary school, the powers that be no longer consider it safe to do this great community service. In fact it seems more and more parents are passing down their own insecurities to their children. To redress this balance I present 18 month old Olli and his troup of adoring four legged friends.
Olli and his grandfather have been walking at the local dog walking area since just after the boy was born. In fact it would not be stretching the truth to say that the toddler learnt to walk in just such company. The dogs, and this is not the complete tribe, simply accept the boys presence, taking care not to push him and treating the child with care. Needless to say the boy exhibits non of the shrinking fear that a growing number of children appear to show when confronted with large or even smaller dogs.
