Everything closed. It could have been a quiet, uneventful day, but for a trip out on the sailing ship, Leeuwin II, which had some of us imagining what Australian colonial seafarers must have experienced.
The ship, which is celebrating its 25th birthday, was specifically built as an adventure ship for youths between 16 and 25. The late afternoon/evening sail that we undertook saw the young, "Redshirts" as the bona fide crew referred to them, hauling sails up and down, stowing ropes and demonstrating the correct way to don life jackets as well as serving platters of tucker to we hungry passengers.
