After watching an inspiring British documentary called, "In Transition", which looked at what can be achieved when groups of people work together to make change. It was time for personal reflection and future plans.
Of the, Living Smart, program itself I have nothing but praise and will endeavour to adapt what I can for a younger audience so that they too can become inspired to make the changes needed to reduce our carbon footprint.
This afternoon it was a case of helping a new, Living Smartie, to live the dream. Under the expert guidance of Tim and Sharni a handf
The actual recipe for this no dig bed was taken from , The Green Gardener, a book by, Josh Byrnes, a well known West Australian gardening guru.
It went as follows: Weedmat or carpet
A thick layer of Newspaper (soaked)
10cm dry leaves or straw if not available
10cm grass clippings, weeds, soft prunings
10cm straw
5cm sheep manure
10cm lucerne
5cm cow manure 10cm lucerne
5cm mushroom compost 10cm straw.
Well it was not that exact, but it was near enough and everyone seemed very pleased with their efforts.
