Oops, that's not it.........."Living Smart" that's the one.
Saturday saw me attending the second of a seven part course on how to live more simply, more in tune with the environment. Unfortunately I had missed the first week for reasons hardly worth explaining, so I won't bore you with the detail. However it was with a sense of achievement that I actually made it last Saturday morning and arrived at the, "Meeting Place", in Fremantle with 5 or so minutes to spare.
I found the next two and a half hours spent in the company of Tim and Sharni, of Painted Fish fame, the duo that runs this course to be entertaining and highly informative.
It soon became apparent however, that what I had previously thought was helping the environment was slightly off the mark and that I would have to go back to, "Rubbish Sorting 101" when it came to filling my rubbish bins. It seems that much of what I thought should go in one bin, should actually go in the other one.
I not only learnt that I didn't know much about recycling, but that I still have much to learn in the whole area of conservation of resources and why the population of the Western World has. in the past few decades, turned into materialistic consumers of immense proportion. An eye opener was the short video, The Story of Stuff, which explains why we and the rest of the world seem to be in the mess we are at present.
