The one I went to today was the, "West Coast Blues and Roots Festival," held on the Fremantle Esplanade. There were three stages set up each playing host to a variety of bands. The music ranged from Blues, Soul, R 'n B, Reggae and Rock. I had gone along to hear, Missie Higgins, and was not disappointed by her or any of the other bands we heard. As with many of these events we were spoilt for choice and it was difficult to know which ones to choose.
About Me

- Lynda Turk
- Perth/Fremantle, Western Australia, Australia
- An independent, working woman, I live in a riverside suburb close to both Fremantle and Perth. Having lived in Perth for over thirty years it's obvious that I love the place, though there are still things that irritate and make me squirm with embarrassment. Occasionally they will make an appearance; but generally speaking this is a pretty good place to live.

West Coast Blues and Roots Festival
Two music festivals were held this weekend. The, "Fairbridge Festival," which has an assortment of folk and blues musicians appearing was promoted as a family friendly event. It began Friday evening and has various musicians appearing throughout the weekend. It is not strictly in the Perth Metropolitan area being held about an hours drive south of Perth.

I thought the behaviour of the multi-aged crowd was excellent. I am not sure how many actually attended but the venue was pretty packed by the time the sun went down. We guestimated quite a few thousand people jigged and swayed to the sounds that echoed through a perfect evening of music.
