Revisiting the past is something we all seem to indulge in now and then. Yesterday was one of those days. We headed out of Perth to the furthest of its northern suburbs, Yanchep.
On the way we drove through the booming suburb of Mindarie, where wedding cake structures hugged the man-made shores of the marina. From blocks of yellow limestone rose white washed mansions, the size of which caused me to wonder how many people actually lived in those amazing structures.
We travelled on through rivers of house lined suburbs, until almost without notice we were among tall timber and heading into Yanchep National Park. The complete contrast from the sun bleached, house covered sand dunes to the tall timber flanked park lands was refreshing.
After a picnic of Christmas leftovers we headed into the, Choc Drop, a themed coffee shop in keeping with the large English like structures which house various facilities such as Tourist Information and hotel accommodation.
From the park we drove to Two Rocks and explored Atlantis, which has become more like its sea covered namesake than was ever intended. Neptune still rises high into the sky, but instead of overseeing a Marine Theme Park, he now looks down on nature taking back what was originally hers.
