Last time I was here the beach was packed.......
but not at this time of the year, still it was wonderful to be back.
The St Kilda Jetty is a bit of an icon and having been recently restored the teahouse at the end of the jetty is well worth a visit.
This holiday saw me taking a side trip to country Victoria where I visited Daylesford, Castlemaine and the Victorian version of Kalgoorlie....Bendigo.
This is a Convent which is run as an art gallery. We were too late to see the art, so I will definitely be visiting charming Daylesford again.
In Castlemaine I walked through a single door into what was loosely termed, Habadashery and found a veritable Alladin's Cave. Bendigo was equally unexpected.
Kalgoorlie like, in that it was founded at the height of the Victorian Goldrush of the 1880s, it was full of grand yet gracious buildings, but it had a softness that Kal lacks. Possibly the lushness of the Victorian countryside tempered the building of Bendigo.
