About Me

My photo
Perth/Fremantle, Western Australia, Australia
An independent, working woman, I live in a riverside suburb close to both Fremantle and Perth. Having lived in Perth for over thirty years it's obvious that I love the place, though there are still things that irritate and make me squirm with embarrassment. Occasionally they will make an appearance; but generally speaking this is a pretty good place to live.

Last week of my UK trip

The weather didn't really get too much warmer, though eventually the snow and ice disappeared, but not before it had put a hole in some of my additional travel plans. I never made it to Germany and didn't even get down to Sussex to visit an Uncle of mine.

Still I did get to see a Pantomime, "Jack and the Beanstalk" to be precise, being performed at the Malvern Theatre. The theatre has an impressive line up of upcoming shows, with a number of well known actors and actresses. The, 'panto' was fun, we even joined in the,,,"Oh no he isn't...."Oh yes he is" routine. Haven't done that since I was a kid.

I also visited, Malvern Abbey which dates back to the 13th Century. We've nothing quite like that here in Perth.
The carving, being part of the arm rest of the choristers seating, was bright and shiny showing the wear and tear of a thousand hands.

This depiction was of an angel, but others were more like gargoyles and equally fascinating if not as handsome.

My final day or two was spent listening quite carefully to the weather forecast as I had visions of the snow, which had been forecast, returning and upsetting last minute departure plans. However whilst a very chilly and frosty -1 degree started the day it was not enough to stop our very early morning drive to Heathrow. This was my last real image of the English countryside, through the car window, the sun was rising and it looked as though it promised a beautiful, if cold day.
