Well not at all actually, but I can't visit my favourite, "Big" city without giving a bit of a plug.Melbourne is a great place for a holiday. Lots to do, even if the weather isn't always the best. My feet ached with all the walking ....... shops, shops and more shops. It is the perfect place for the shopaholic and foodies......miles of fashion, cafes, restaurants of all persuasions and coffee houses on every corner for the cappuccino connoisseurs.
Believe it or not Melbournians are addicted to their morning shots of the brown liquid that comes from the coffee bean. Not unnaturally therefore, coffee making is really an art and whilst I am disappointed my photo is out of focus, I still have to include this.
However, the highlight of my visit this time was not in Melbourne itself, but on a side trip further south to Philip Island. Yes, the same place the Australian Motorcycle Grand Prix is being held this weekend.
Besides being known for that, its penguin colony is its other claim to fame. A must see according to the advertising and I can honestly say it was a memorble experience, though not perhaps for the actual penguins themselves
. It was freezing waiting for the cute, furry little fellows to appear from the oh so cold ocean. But rugged up, with beanie and scarf we managed to last the hour or so bef
ore they made their appearance. No wonder they can live in the Antarctic.By the way the island itself is lovely and well worth a visit if heading that way.
