About Me

My photo
Perth/Fremantle, Western Australia, Australia
An independent, working woman, I live in a riverside suburb close to both Fremantle and Perth. Having lived in Perth for over thirty years it's obvious that I love the place, though there are still things that irritate and make me squirm with embarrassment. Occasionally they will make an appearance; but generally speaking this is a pretty good place to live.

The Painted Fish

A well known B&B in Fremantle, The Painted Fish has already established a reputation as a fine an example of what can be retro fitted to make a house sustainable. With photo voltaic cells returning excess energy to the electricity grid and large water tanks helping to offset water useage these features are just two of the numerous energy saving devices that have been incorporated into this rather funky Fremantle residence. Tim, an artist of some standing, uses his creative flair to great advantage adding personal touches which make this home especially eye catching.

The main house sits at the top of a sloping block. A narrow path winds down and leads to an enclosed garden which comprises of a converted carriage complete with outdoor shower on one side and a modern glass fronted studio on the other. Surprisingly the two meld well together. Two large water lily covered ponds complete this peaceful haven.
