In Perth the HOT topic is, "Will you vote YES or NO to Daylight Saving." Passions run high on both sides and opponents get as heated as our summer midday sun.
On May 16th Western Australia will be having its fourth referendum on Daylight Saving. Yep, we've had three already and as you might correctly assume the vote has always been a resounding "NO!!"
Having said that, being three hours out of time with our Eastern States cousins, who have the infamous DLS, causes big business to lose lots of Big Bucks and as we all know, money talks.
Now you might assume from the tone of the above I am opposed to DLS, but to be honest I love it. This summer saw us complete a three year trial and we were all supposed to fall in love with the extra hours of sunlight. Of course there weren't really any extra hours at all, it's simply with DLS we see a whole hour more.
If you listened to the opponents of DLS you would think we had hours and hours of extra hot burning sun. Wake up sleepy heads, it's simply without it we sleep through the coolest hours of daylight and get up when the sun has already been around for two or three hours.............
