Australian and New Zealand Army Corps., that's what ANZAC stands for.
The 25th April is Australia's Remembrance Day. It is the day when Australians remember the dead, injured and all those affected in some way by War. Dawn services followed by large parades are held throughout the country and internationally, with large ceremonies in Gallipoli, Turkey and Villers-Bretonneux, France, as well as in England and the US.
The days leading up to it are full of stories of heroism and sacrifice not only of those gone before us but tribute is also paid to those currently serving in the armed forces. Every school in Australia holds an Anzac day Service and the solemnity of the occasion is upheld.
Contrary to expectations of a decade ago, instead of the commemoration services waning with the passing of time and War veterans, the interest and participation has continued to grow.
